Has Proven Itself in My Household May 22, 2010 Stephanie DePue (Carolina Beach, NC USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Holmes HT38RB2-U Oscillating Fan has proven itself in my household to be a pretty good fan. The weather can get noticeably hot and humid around here several months of the year; we have air conditioning -- it would be tough to live without it-- but sometimes we just need some spot cooling. This fan takes up very little space, is light, and can be easily moved. The oscillation feature is helpful for cooling, too, and we don't find that it is too noisy. It works very well for spot cooling. The remote control is handy. The unobtrusive design has shown itself to be acceptable in any room of the house, and its small size means it can be easily stored in the cooler months. Price is quite reasonable, too.
lightweight and easily tipped over January 17, 2010 M. Kim (San Francisco, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The base of this fan isn't heavy enough. So when you have the fan on oscillate, the fan will rock from its own momentum. It's pretty bad when my cat can push it over, and she's only a 6 or 7 pound cat.
Puts out an odor August 28, 2009 S. Knauer 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I like the style of the fan but it makes a clicking sound when oscillating and when I've had it on for a while, there is a chemically type burning odor which I don't like at all.
Happy with the fan for one year August 18, 2009 B. Li (California, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Pros:
* A nice fan that is pretty quiet on the low speed setting.
Cons:
* The oscillating feature stopped working after one year of usage.
Works well July 31, 2009 Vishal Kotcherlakota (San Diego, CA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Tne apartments in my area have no AC, so every summer we have to break out the fans. This fan was pretty easy to assemble, and it works quite nicely! It's definitely quieter and more effective than a box fan. The remote control is a nice touch, too.
There are "Natural Breeze" and "Sleep Breeze" modes that allow the fan to vary its speed, but I've found them to be pretty useless.
All in all, good buy. I'm able to keep my cool!
