4 out of 5 stars cold air   September 7, 2010

the product works really well. cold air does come out of the front. a few things i do not like: the hose for the exhaust is very cheap and does not fit well in the back of the unit. i was hoping they would use a quality hose that would fit well. i prefer the hose be screwed in instead of just pushing in to the back- as this hose will just pop out. also, i'm not entirely sure why there are 2 hose vents on the back, hot air is emitting from the back vent from only 1hose and yet the unit works fine. its a very heavy unit and i do not think lifting it around would be feasible. in addition, its painful to hook it up to the window with the vent hose because they keep coming out...

5 out of 5 stars Powerful air conditioner that takes care of an open living area   September 1, 2010
Diesel Cat (Connecticut, USA)
I am very happy with this unit.

To be clear, I have used just the fan and the airconditioning features so far. I have not yet used just the dehumidifier nor the heater.

I have the unit in living area that is a little under 500 square feet, but that is also open to the dining room, kitchen, and bathroom, as well as the stairs going up to the 2nd floor. If I go to the point in the kitchen farthest from this unit, I can still easily detect it's cooling influence.

I have it parked inches from the window it exhausts out of and pulls in compressor cooling air through. Because this window is so narrow, I had to do a little fancy footwork to get the adapters to fit. I cut the double adapter in two, and have the two pieces pared down and taped one on top of the other. (BTW, the adapters are a piece of cake to cut through if even all you have is a PVC hand saw.)

I am located in CT, and it has been even more humid this summer than usual. Yet, I have not experienced this terrible leaking I've read some complaints about. I haven't had to drain anything. I do get some condensation around the vents, but that's really it.

In any case, I've been very happy with this unit. I'm happy with its cooling capacity. I look forward to testing it's heating abilities.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Unit   August 23, 2010

Works Great, I received this unit and it does the job, COLD / HOT, just couldn't ask for anything better, the remote control is simple to use, if your worried about it arriving in one piece let me tell you the packaging is the best I've ever seen, I even ordered a second one for another room, if your looking for a portable unit that does the job, then this is the one, you'd be crazy to buy anything else.

I purchased this unit for cooling my bedroom. The room is approx 500 Sq ft with vaulted ceilings. The unit was easy to setup, install in window with dual hoses and insulation covers. I am really happy with unit so far, it has reduced the temp in bedroom from 89-90 without unit to a cool 74. I have not had any problems at all with unit.

1 out of 5 stars A leaking pile of junk   August 5, 2010

I purchased this unit in July 2008 and I have had nothing but problems with it. The Soleus support line is always busy, and when you do get someone, they look for an answer and never call back. My front panel to control the unit does not work, and I have tried to get Soleus to replace the panel, with no luck. I have to use the remote control to use the A/C. Around 2 years of service, and the unit started leaking water. It appears the drain line for the unit is not placed far enough back, and so the water pan just drips out of the unit, right onto the floor. You can pay to have the unit shipped back and repaired they said, but the minimum charge is $150 plus shipping charges. Don't waste your money!
